Jefferson Fietek has had three of his plays produced; he has also written a short film series that was ultimately produced for distribution to middle schools in the northern suburbs of the Twin cities.  Aside from writing plays, he has also instructed multiple courses in play writing for youth and young adults.  If you would like more information about any of Fietek's plays or would like to discuss the possibilities of producing the plays at your theater or school, please contact him using the form in the bottom portion of this page or via the "contact" tab above.  Fietek is currently working on developing a few new pieces that will hopefully be finding their way to a stage near you soon!

Pinocchio
based on the classic book by Carlo Collodi
Adapted for the stage by Jefferson Fietek

Fietek's new adaptation follows the story line of the original Italian text more closely than most adaptations, while at the same time bringing to it a contemporary sense of humor.  The adaptation has many of the characters we have grown to love while introducing some brand new ones as well such as the "Parrot" and the "Pigeon."
Running time: 1 hour 30 min
Cast Size: 30 character + ensemble (Can be less with doubling)

Dreams of a Cobblers Son
A musical on the childhood of Hans Christian Anderson
Book and lyrics by Jefferson Fietek
Music and lyrics by Benjamin Lacina

After reading many of Hans Christian Anderson's personal journals about his childhood, Fietek created a magical piece that focuses on the real life struggles of Hans as a child and how he used his imagination and creativity to empower himself.  The story uses puppetry as well as real life actors to tell the inspiration behind some of Anderson's most beloved tales like "The Little Mermaid", "The Little Match Girl" and "The Emperor's New Clothes."  Though originally performed with an all youth cast, it could easily be done with a mix of adult and youth characters.
Running Time: 1 hour 15 min
Cast Size: 30 character + ensemble (Can be less with doubling)

The Birds
based on the Greek comedy by Aristophanes
Adapted for the stage by Jefferson Fietek

This hilarious adaptation of the Greek play about a group of dimwitted birds who try and take over the world has been completely re-imagined as if it happened in America in the early 1980s.  Several '80s icons are celebrated in this retelling - from political figures to pop music icons.  Though the piece is modernized, it still respects the original text's mix of prose and poetry. Even though it is Greek Theater it has a mass appeal to young and old.

Running Time: 1 hour and 45 min
Cast Size: 20 character + ensemble (Can be less with doubling)
